About the Project
Techped is a project focused on improving self-management and education for children with type 1 diabetes through a digital app, including a gaming app. The app helps kids learn about diabetes in a fun and engaging way while encouraging self-management. It is being tested on children at the Magdeburg University Hospital (Uniklinik) to ensure it’s user-friendly and effective. The app aims to replace in-person visits and integrates pediatricians into a digital outpatient clinic to improve overall care for children with type 1 diabetes.
For this project, we conducted numerous user experience interviews with children who have type 1 diabetes. Most of these interviews were qualitative.
The recorded user testing videos were also edited by me using DaVinci Resolve.

My role as UI/UX designer
When I joined the project, there was an existing mobile app designed for parents to log information about their children with type 1 diabetes. I took the time to analyze the previous design, identified key usability issues, and proposed improvements to enhance the user experience. I began the redesign process by developing a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency and scalability across the app.

One of the aspects I truly enjoyed in this role was conducting market research on existing gaming apps, analyzing their features, and gathering insights. This informed the next steps, where I created low-fidelity designs and storyboards as part of the early concept development—laying the foundation before finalizing the design.
